Set to the poetry of Joel Janis and Lunise Jules, “la dame aux chapeaux” evokes the practice of many Haitian women who stack their hats on their heads when traveling by plane to avoid them being destroyed or taking up too much luggage space. Composed for the performance piece entitled until in 2019.

Performed and recorded in February 2016, a black pierrot blends poetry, classical music, and movement to explore themes of belonging, freedom, and diaspora. Presented as the thesis for my Master of Music in collaborative piano.
